Established 1979

AVS Lettering, Inc. was established in February 1979 by brothers Vic and Tony Ciaccia, and partner Stan Krupa. Their first job (200 pairs of nylon gym shorts with a one-color print on the leg for Xerox Corporation) took all day and most of the night. AVS Inc. can print on just about anything you can wear. Our catalog has many designer brands and contemporary styles, from T-shirts to dress shirts, shorts to outerwear, and anything in between. You can access part of the catalog online.

AVS history

Growth

Today, the two brothers own and manage the day to day operations of AVS Lettering and have steered its growth and expansion. Originally, all of their business was contract printing---schools, amateur sports teams, corporate programs, and promotional items. As the business grew, the brothers saw a needVan Gough to offer activewear and custom-printed clothing and now offer the ability to print on many designer labels for attire and events. The company also offers custom printing and in 1986, one of their shirts took top honors at an international industry show in New Orleans, over more than 1000 other entries. Click here to see it.

National and Local Clients

AVS works with many national companies and ships their work throughout out the US. The company continually strives to give the highest quality screen printing to anyone, anywhere in the US, without forgetting their local ties. Their work can be seen on the Rochester Americans hockey and Rochester Rhinos soccer franchises, as well as on their fans, and on players for school teams and town Little Leagues. The aprons, coaches' shirts, and T-shirt uniforms worn in several local bars, restaurants and garden centers come from AVS.

Philosophy

The company's continued growth and achievements have been based upon realistic expectations, perseverance, and commitment to long-term success. "Our original philosophy was that we would provide service to our customers---not just a good price, but the willingness to get the job done within the customer's time frame, not ours," Vic says. "Even when a customer demands something that you think is unfair or unrealistic, you have to weigh up what you have to gain or lose by saying ‘no’. Our customers are loyal, so we want to make the effort. But beyond that," he adds, "in business, you have to remember that you are only as good as your last job."
